On October 10, 2024, Jackie's dream came true when she met Kate Bowler for the the Humanities North Dakota “No Cure For Being Human” event (part of the Marilyn Hudson Brave Conversations project)!
The evening was a smashing success! Hundreds in the packed venue, hundreds streaming, and a large watch party in Minot heard Kate’s words of honesty, wit, and wisdom. Jackie emceed the event and sat at the head table with Kate and other community leaders from across North Dakota.
Jackie had this to say about the evening:
"Not meeting your heroes is total garbage on this one! Kate was just as hilarious and kind as I envisioned her to be. We hugged it out a lot! (And I believe our photo together is her telling me she can sing Tiny Dancer … ☺️ after I told her I’d do some light tap dancing on stage.)
"For me to be able to write her a message about how much she means to me and give her a little gift, and to share the story of how (Sean and I) found her with the audience and Kate, was absolutely priceless. ✨ I’ll continue to be her most devoted acolyte!
"Thanks as always to my best Humanities ladies: Lacie, Sue, and Brenna for making this gorgeous event happen."

And if you're a member of Humanities ND (if you're not, change that today [did you know you can donate any amount to become a yearly member?!]) you can watch a recording of the event in the Vault.
If being human is a chronic condition, at least we're in it together with someone like Kate Bowler. She's truly the most lovable human on the planet!
